Default To Drop-D tuner or not?...

Just sold my TC Electronics Sub n Up on Reverb for $70+ shipping. I was thinking of buying a Hipshot GT2 Xtender Tuner for my tele. Basically, it's a lever to switch the 6tb string from E to D for instant Drop D tuning. Yeah, I switch to Drop D often, but I don't see myself playing live anytime soon. I plan to play in a worship band when I am older though, when the kids don't need me anymore.

It is $59.99 on eBay. Should I? Or not?

I'm getting an A/B switch pedal too.

I'd get another guitar and keep it in drop D tuning.

Even if I love playing on my tele?

Hipshot makes really high quality stuff and this kind of thing is their specialty. Notice the fine tune adjuster so she switching can be dead accurate. If you go back and forth from drop D allot this would be a great choice. Just know unlike the pedal you sold this will leave permanent marks on your guitar if you decide to remove it. Also the tuner is integrated so it may not match your other tuners looks wise.

It's OK to own two Telecasters.

I dunno, for drop tuning I'd look for a bassier guitar, maybe a Les Paul or SG type. But that's just me.

Somebody mentioned this on the telecaster forum: https://www.pitch-key.com/

It's cheaper than the Hipshot GT2 Xtender D-tuner by almost half.

What say you?

I was worried if it would affect string longevity being bent. But, they get twisted in tuners too.

I almost always have to tune up a bit before playing. Don't you have to detune the low E to D, to be in drop D?

Everybody needs 2 of everything, especially telecasters. But, I prefer strats now. There's no limit on strats.
