Default B50 or B5 type Bigsby

What do you guys think of the strings going over the top of the roller bar rather than going under...I watched a you tube vidio about this,,,the said you don,t need a sharp brake angle... any thoughts. Thanks

I have a Bigsby on my Riviera P93 and I changed the string to over the roller simply because the roller does not roll. Every time I used it, it went out of tune. I filed and lubed the nut lubed any contact point there was. Just didn't work for me.

I like Bigsby's because they look cool, but wouldn't buy one. I'd string it the way Bigsby recommends but I'd only use one on a guitar that has a bridge that can rock back and forth. Them buggers can knock you outta tune if you don't.

I have a B-50 on my '13 Gretsch Projet. The very first thing I did getting it home was change the strings and route them OVER the down tension bar. Even in the store, I knew the action could be much better. Use some clear nail polish on the roller bar as it is loose and will rattle.

Also, I ordered a Reverend Soft Spring for Bigsby's that made the action of the unit much more natural and easy . The supplied spring is very stiff. With the bar engaged as designed, you won't get much at all out of it. It doesn't skip saddles nor affect tuning but makes the Bigsby usable.
