I would want it to be well rounded.

Sgt.Peppers - Beatles

Midnight Blue - Kenny Burrell

The Traveller - Chris Stapleton

Madonna - Madonna

Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin

Since this would influence them for life I would want a wide variety. I was tempted to put in some type of album of show tunes. I also thought about adding Frank Zappa but this introducing a kid to music and some of frank's stuff is definitely not for kids.

why put country up when I don't particularly like it. And consider the albums chose more transformative than rap or whatever for me. Yes HE may find what he likes easier that way. But the question was
--- You got to pick 5 album that will shape his taste for the rest of his life: ---

shape he's taste otherwise he will be shaping it himself ??

Somebody once shaped my taste many years ago. After I listened to what I consider now to be rather emotionless music. Agreed you do shape it for yourself. But it has to be in front of you, and you have to be ready for it.

You cant force someone to like what you like. But also he cant do that without the music in front of him.

if the question was 5 albums to help him decide what music he may gravitate towards then yes get your point. Otherwise I will share what I consider to be important music. Which is what I thought the poster of the thread was suggesting

I don't have any kids. Lately I've been into a Bob Dylan, Bob Marley thing.
