music has 3 function.
all chords in key belongs to a function.
T - I, III, VI
S - II, IV
D - V, VII
for example, if you take VI after V it will sounded like tonic, 'cos VI has two notes from tonic chord.
normaly in period occurs a progression of functions:
T D T S D at first sentence
T S D T in second sentence
it possible to use any chord inside the function.
but dominant cadence must be on V.
