I've been using tracks from these guys for years (http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/) which are free however I came across this site last year or so (I'm in no way affiliated with them):

You have to pay for each song (about $3) but what makes this site unique are their custom tracks. What this allows you to do is remove any one of the tracks from each song. I typically pull out only the guitars but you can remove vocals, drums, keys, etc and record your parts. All of the vocals are not the original artist and some sound better than others. It's a pretty neat feature and I've used a bunch of their tracks to date. They have a lot of songs I couldn't find anywhere else.

This is a great resource!! AlyKat and I have used this for at least 2 collaborations. With the custom track, you can create a custom track with each instrument letting you mix each instrument the way you want to.
