Default The Power Of Music

The other day when my alarm went off at 4:30 am, I dragged myself out of bed like usual & shuffled around making coffee (decaf) with one eye open & wished for death, lol. I am no early riser, even a shower doesn't help wake me up. As I stagger out to the garage & head for work, wiithin 5 minutes I am bright eyed & bushy tailed as my favorite CD's play or some good music comes on the radio.I find my foot tapping my head bopping & a smile on my face. I feel energized & ready to go!

What sucks is we cannot listen to music at work. Once in a while there is some super quiet muzak in & near the elevators.

What kind of power does music give you?

Music lets me travel back in time and relive past experiences; it lifts my mood, gives me a reason to get up...

Sailing by Christopher Cross...transports me back to New Port RI, lying on the beach, summer of 1980.

I wonder if this is a gender thing? My wife and daughter like background music, or more accurately any kind of background noise, while I mostly prefer blissful silence when trying to do something that needs a bit of concentration. They are also much better at multitasking than I am. I did, however, used to listen to music, Classic FM or Bruce Springsteen, when driving long distances on open roads.

I'm not very musical at all, so for me it is the power of music-related tinkering (I made some bottlenecks yesterday, and rebalanced my soundhole pickup today) rather than music that helps me relax and forget my troubles,

It's the opposite with me. Before I was married, I had music playing in my apartment the moment I got home...this after listening in the office all day and in my car. I would have music on as I went to sleep too., Saturday morning, with my morning coffee the jazz would go on. My wife found it distracting, so over time that habit stopped. With little kids to tend to, yes it can be distracting and frustrating to have music playing all of the time.

Years ago when i was a teenager ( maybe about 3 years ago 5 tops ) if I went for a sleep I couldn't sleep without an album on. In fact the album stopping would wake me up.
The slightest noise from outside woke me up playing the music relaxed me and drowned out any noise I guess.
I could have the music fairly loud as well
