What I'm having trouble with, is degaussing a permanent magnet, I know you can degauss ferrous metal that's magnetized, but a permanent magnet? Pickups have magnets and coils

OK, I guess you can ruin a permament magnet with heat but it takes alot, you have to get the magnet at least to this...

This temperature depends on the materials in the magnet and could be as high as 1390 degrees Fahrenheit (770 degrees Celsius) for low carbon steel, for example.
