Default Hopefully this is more than a drive-by post

Yeah, I been away for a while. Mucho going on and not going on. Lumbar fusion two years ago next month. Hardly any gym workouts, got fat lazy and stupid. Now I'm back to the gym, getting diet back on track, and am on a total make-over and re-invention of myself. I even get dressed for work in slacks and collared shirts... no more jeans and t shirts. Imagine that!

I've been totally out of touch with the g- give me a moment to remember... the gui... aw jeez, I used to know what it's called... oh yeah, the guitar! I've been really frustrated with it, but at the same time I miss it. I've almost put them out for garbage pickup and/or beat up the oak trees with them.

But yesterday something got into my head. I tuned one up, literally cleaned the dust off it, and one of my books of chord sheets, sat at the dining room table and played a bit. Um... my fingies hurt like a bitch! I guess the callouses will come back. Without a doubt it needs to be restrung and given some tlc.

All joking aside, I've forgotten a lot of stuff.... some of it good stuff, but maybe some bad stuff. I'm playing with the idea of signing up for lessons again, to unlearn many of my bad habits and hopefully learn the right way, with a different outlook.

So, hey there!

Cool, good to get back to it!
I did similar to you, I hadn't played for like 12 years a month ago wanted to play again.
got guitar out, literally dusted it, polished it, new strings, fingers mega sore for a couple week! Now I have some cool thick calluses ... FINALLY so almost no pain.
Still only about 1/2 as good as I was back then, egads, it's not like riding a bike!

Good luck! It looks like I’m in good company. Part of the fingers problem and some chords has always been using strings that are too heavy. I’m going to try extra lights.

Same back to ya, it's a fun re-journey!
Yes, I agree, I use superslinky's.
Also, I iced the tips of my fingers after playing at first, really helped a LOT.

Welcome back & good luck with the re-invention process. Looking forward to hear about the journey & hear some of your musical endeavors.
