Default Blues Junior labeling

I have an older Blues Junior (tweed). The labeling by the pots is ridiculous. It's backward when reading from the front and it's virtually illegible as well due to the coloration.

I Googled to see if anyone had any "fixes". At one time, apparently, there was a guy on Ebay selling a replacement strip. It was an aluminum strip (or aluminum tape?) with black lettering. You just removed a few screws, dropped this strip on, and put the screws back.

He no longer sells this on Ebay however. Have any of you, with Blues Juniors, done anything about this? Any fixes? I can, and have, lived with it, but if there is an easy fix I"d be interested in that.

Same thing with my Blues Deluxe. I have things set pretty much how I want, and just flip the on switch on.

If you put it on an amp stand, it might be a little easier to read, even backwards.

There's always painters tape, where you can write the controls on.

Ah, that's what I was looking for. Just ordered it!

It does make you want about the whole new product development cycle at Fender. How could any prototype make it to production with the labeling unreadable?

They eventually, in the Blues Junior III, went with darker lettering (I'm not sure about the reverse aspect) and now in the IV they went with white knobs and white lettering.

It's even worse with the older ones than that. It's "dangerous" to even take the knobs off as the pots are wired directly to the boards and pulling on the shafts pulls on the board. Nothing like that would make it past prototyping in a company with any kind of decent engineering department.

I used to have a strip of paper with the knobs labeled placed on top of the amp.

Per my usual practice of not taking tags off my gear, I still have the "label" still on the amp. I could flip it over, and write the knob descriptions on it, but that would ruin the esthetic, lol.

It's crazy that there's any need to do anything.

Color code the knobs with all that nail polish.

The labeled metal plate arrived today. It wasn't too hard to install. You loosed two screws on top and two on the sides and then take out the 6 screws that hold the back plate on.

At this point you just slide in the metal plate and align the labels with the knobs and put everything back together. It's got a notch that you align over a screw and this aligns everything else. It's well worth the $18 I paid for this (including shipping).

Default Blues Junior Labeling

I believe this comes from a time when the amp was placed in front of you and not behind,,,

So does the new plate go over the old one, or you remove the old one?

If you removed the old one, I suspect a Blues Jr plate going up on ebay soon.

It also comes from a time when people could read white lettering on a shiny aluminum plate.
