Default MIDI Keyboard without Split Zone Function

There are MIDI keyboards which you can assign for example a bass guitar to lower registers and a saxophone to higher registers. (Split Zone Function)

and there are MIDI keyboards which haven't this function.

Can I make these assignments on DAW?

Do I need that function as built-in?

In Cubase you would create two virtual instrument tracks and load with what you want, like a bass and a sax.

Then you can set the track to only respond to midi notes like the lower half for the bass and the upper range for the sax. Some DAWs have this capability and some don't.

There's software and hardware that can do this on the fly if your DAW doesn't do it.

My software instrument Halion 2 can do this inside the plugin.
