While it is easy for me to understand why an instrument maker would put care and consideration into selecting wood for certain sound/tone characteristics, I'm still not quite sure why it is so upsetting for others to learn this.

Different densities of the same wood can do the same, however with electric guitars the wood (regardless of density) doesn't matter as it relates to tone.

It's easy for some to understand why the Earth is only 6,000 years old but that doesn't make it true. Those who are upset seem to be the one's who just have to believe in "tonewood".
